I like Japanese Gashapon machines and I play whenever I feel lucky. :) Sure, most of the time you can buy the items in the Akihabara, Nakano or Ikebukuro stores, but a randomly gained item gives a certain feeling, seems more… precious, isn’t it?
And when the prizes are good quality pins or phone-straps… and they are also maid-cafe related, like this one, it becomes irresistible. So I have now almost the whole collection! :D

The machine is quite rare, I only found one, in Akihabara…

We also have in Europe this kind of machines, but the quality of the products sold through the Japanese Gashapon machines is far superior.

Nice pins. Here in the US, we sometimes call Gashapon machines "gumball vendors". Of course they don't all dispense gumballs, but capsules with trinkets just like the pins you show.
