I won’t have time this year to properly enjoy Sakura, but I cannot let the sakura time pass without marking it in some way. So I went through my photo archives and prepared a little collection of high-res sakura photos, so we can enjoy together sakura flowers, trees and buds!
There are so many things to say about sakura, about its symbolism, about Hanami, the Japanese traditional custom of “flower viewing"… But the recent events made me just wish that this year, the Sakura season will help the Japanese people to overcome hardships…
And without further ado, here’s a set of 25 of my favorite sakura photos:
There are a lot of sakura species, but my favorite sakura tree is the Sakura Kanzan variety (the type preferred for Sakurayu, the Sakura tea):
Without flowers, the leaves give those trees a bronze color (it becomes green after a while):
I never get tired admiring and taking photos of sakura buds…
… especially from up-close:
But there’s nothing like a sakura branch full of cherry blossom:
Enjoy! :D
