definitely you should stay for more than one day. Especially, if you'd like to go up to Chuzenji as well.
Let me know when you're coming here. We're going to Hokkaido for obon (most likely). If you want, you could come with us.

I haven't done all the plans yet, so I don't know if I would be in Nikko for more than one day, but I'll surely be interested to see more than the usual attractions!

there's plenty more to see in Nikko than the Temple Complex, Shinkyo Bridge and the Ganman. How about Kaizando hall, monk Shodo's tomb, and up that way... Toyama mountain (if you don't feel like climbing Nantai) - you get pretty city views from the top. And there's a lot more. Try to get off the beaten tourist track this August. Let me know if you want to meet and we'll show you around. :)
