A glimpse of Edo

Only the modern clothing of the passersby makes this image differ from the illustrations on the famous Edo period scroll Kidai Shoran, representing scenes from 200 years ago, taking place around the Nihonbashi Bridge in Edo.

But the old Nihonbashi doesn't exist anymore, it was replaced by a stone bridge during the Meiji period. And the place photographed here is not Tokyo but Kyoto, more precisely the Toei Kyoto Studio Park, a place well worth a visit, because it offers a glimpse of how Edo looked like some 200 years ago...
