Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Abandoned Great Buddha statue

Wed, July 27, 2016, by Muza-chan
Erected 62 years ago, this giant Great Buddha (Daibutsu) representing a very unusual version of Amida Buddha, was unfortunately left abandoned. It is 3 meters taller than the Daibutsu of Nara, but since it is located far from any tourist area, there's rarely anyone coming to see it up close. I discovered it because it is well visible from the Meitetsu train line running between Nagoya and Inuyama, close to the Konan City.

Hotei Daibutsu, Konan
