If you haven't seen yet a photo from Amanohashidate, the manhole cover in this photo might be a bit hard to understand.

What makes this place unique, and one of the most visited locations in Japan, is this incredibly beautiful strip of sand that connects the shores of the Miyazu Bay. Called Amanohashidate, the "Bridge to Heaven", this scenic spot gives the name to the nearby city, and since it is one of the "Three Views of Japan" (Nihon Sankei), it is no wonder that it was represented on the cities manhole covers...
