About Japan from... manhole covers, Sunrise at Meoto Iwa

As I wrote before, in many Japanese cities the manhole covers are designed to feature the local tourist attractions. In some cases, the image drawn also offers bits of interesting information.

In Toba, a small town close to Ise, the main attraction is the pair of sacred, "wedded rocks" Meoto Iwa. These rocks are so famous that there's no need to advertise them. However, the manhole cover still gives an important hint: the best time to see them is at sunrise, when the sun appears between the two rocks...
