Aomori Nebuta float, the Story of Water Margin

Photographed here is one of the winners of the last year Nebuta festival, displayed inside the Warasse Nebuta Museum in Aomori. It represents a fragment from one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature, named Water Margin.

The story is about the leader of a village who built a pagoda to protect a neighboring village against bad spirits. But after that the bad spirits moved to his village. The leader moved the pagoda to his village, but then the bad spirits moved again to the neighboring village. Then, he realized that the only solution was to built another pagoda...
