There are several large Japanese festivals featuring mikoshi and floats, but if you're not participating at the festival, there are few places where you can admire the floats. In most cases, you will find one or two examples displayed in malls or in train stations. However, that's not the case of the Aomori Nebuta Matsuri festival. In Aomori you can visit an impressive museum housing the five giant floats (nebuta in Japanese) declared winners during the last festival, all of them enchantingly lit up...
