Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Beppu Kamado Jigoku

Thu, December 7, 2017, by Muza-chan
Since ancient times the fumarolic gas of one of the boiling ponds in Beppu was used for cooking rice, hence the lake's name of Kamado Jigoku, meaning "the cooking pot hell". The steam comes out at more than 90 degrees Celsius and it makes for an impressive sight.
