Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Chiran Hirayama Katsumi garden

Fri, October 18, 2019, by Muza-chan
An element giving unicity to the seven gardens recognised as a "National Scenic Beauty" in Chiran is the use of shirasu, pumice and volcanic ash commonly found in the south Kyushu region.

The shirasu is spread out across the garden to represent a water surface, as you can see in today's photo, taken inside the Hirayama Katsumi garden.
