Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Chiran's samurai gardens, Mori Shigemitsu

Tue, December 12, 2017, by Muza-chan
The gardens of the samurai district in Chiran, Kagoshima, are forming a unique collection. Seven of them, perfectly preserved, are available to visitors, and each of them features distinctive design, symbolism, and wonderful views.

Photographed here is a part of the garden at the Mori Shigemitsu residence, the only garden here featuring water. The pond symbolizes an ocean, adorned with carefully selected rocks to represent mountains.
