Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Chiran Samurai Residence complex

Wed, August 21, 2019, by Muza-chan
Erected during the Edo period nearby the Chiran castle, the samurai district in Chiran had about 500 samurai residences. The streets were made with many right-angle turns and the homes were protected by walls made of stone and decorated with carefully trimmed bushes (which were also impossible to escalate).

Practically, the entire samurai district was conceived as an easily to defend fortress.
