Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Dogo Onsen, the inspiration for the building from the Spirited Away movie

Mon, November 9, 2015, by Muza-chan
Many cities have a night-life charming district, a place that becomes a "must visit" after sundown. I took that into account when I planned for my first visit to Matsuyama, the capital city of the Ehime prefecture.

The most beautiful such area is located around the Dōgo onsen, one of the oldest onsen public baths in Japan. After nightfall, when the lights are lit, the 120 years old building really conveys the feeling of the Spirited Away film... Due to its inspiring architecture, the building was the inspiration for the building in the movie. And there's also a local legend according to which a kami was once healed by the water of this hot spring...
