Rare and odd statue, Fasting Buddha

In Kawagoe, at the Choki-in Temple, near a small pond with lotuses, I discovered a statue that made me shiver. I searched for information about it and I found that this is a Gandhara-style statue called Deep Meditation Buddha or popularly Fasting Buddha, a statue rarely seen in Japan.
