The
Tokyo Statue of Liberty isn't the only work of art from Odaiba with French origins. The lesser known but arguably more beautiful Flame of Freedom ("
La Flamme de la Liberté") is one of the pair of statues sculpted by the French sculptor Marc Coutelier and can be admired not far from the Statue of Liberty, near the
Fuji TV building.
La Flamme de la Liberté was a gift offered by France on the anniversary of 150 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Its pair, called "
Tremblement de Ciel", is displayed in the Parc de La Seille, in Metz, France.
