Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Gokoku-ji Temple Daibutsu

Wed, July 28, 2010, by Muza-chan
You know I like the Great Buddha statues (Daibutsu). There are many Daibutsu statues scattered all across Japan, but since most of them are are of smaller sizes, they aren't tourist spots and often there is little information to be found about them.
That was the case with this Daibutsu statue from the Gokoku-ji Temple - I didn't know it was there, so it was a very pleasant surprise when I saw it.
The Gokoku-ji Temple is one of the biggest temples in Tokyo and is also famous because it is one of the few places in Tokyo that survived the bombings from the World War II.
