Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Himeji Castle

Wed, November 30, 2016, by Muza-chan
Revisiting the Himeji castle, I learned an interesting fact about its recent renovation. One of the renovation stages was the dismantling of the roof, a process during which all of the 80,000 roof tiles were cleaned and each of them was examined to decide whether it can be reused or not. More than 80% of the original roof tiles were reused, and the rest were made by using the original techniques.
