Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Ichibata Electric Railway wooden train

Tue, May 9, 2017, by Muza-chan
The private line Ichibata Electric Railway serves two lines in Shimane, very important both for locals and for tourists. The railway's Taisha Line connects Izumo Taisha, one of the most important Shinto shrines in Japan.

The Taisha Line is served by several old-style trains, among which the one photographed here is truly special. It is a two cars electric multiple unit converted from a former Keio 5000 series, with a nostalgic interior design: small semi-private compartments, with 4 seats on a side and 2 seats on the other, having all the pieces worked in wood.
