Ishiguro residence, high ranking samurai house

The Ishiguro Samurai Residence in Kakunodate is the oldest samurai house in the town, built at the middle of the 18th century. The house belonged to a samurai family which fulfilled the job of yonin (administrator or household secretary) of the Northern Satake clan. It was the highest ranking family in Kakunodate's Samurai District.
