Japanese castle interior, Matsue

Among the 12 original surviving Japanese castles, only 5 were declared as National Treasures, and one of them is the Matsue castle, whose main tower was built 400 years ago.

The wooden tower, restored in 1960, looks now as it was during the Edo period. The lower floors were furnished as museum halls, but the higher floors were left untouched, and they allow visitors to feel a bit of the atmosphere of old times....
