Japanese gardens, Dobashi bridge

There are two kinds of bridges used in the traditional Japanese gardens, some made to stand out (such as the red arched bridges) and some made to blend in with the surrounding nature.

Photographed here is one of the latter kind, a dobashi "earthen bridge". Made of mostly raw wood logs, this bridge in Rikugi-en, Bunkyo, Tokyo, is covered with soil planted with moss and grass.
