Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Japanese mascots, Uzushio-kun and Uzuhime-chan

Tue, January 24, 2017, by Muza-chan
As in many other Japanese cities, the two cute mascots of Naruto city in Tokushima Prefecture are teaching visitors about the local attractions. Aptly named Uzushio-kun and Uzuhime-chan, uzushio meaning whirlpool, they are symbolizing the famous whirlpools of Naruto Straits.

The boy wears a hat shaped like the Naruto Bridge (from where visitors are admiring the whirlpools) while the girls wears a fish tail shaped hat, a reference to a local dish called narutomaki, a seafood product.
