Japanese modern architecture, Nebuta House

The Nebuta House (Nebuta-no-ie warasse) is the building housing the Warasse Nebuta Museum in Aomori, a permanent exposition dedicated to the history and culture of Nebuta.

The design is spectacular and modern, with a touch of inspiration from the traditional Japanese decorations. A rectangular box body is covered by a gigantic curtain made of red "ribbons", inspired by the noren fabric dividers. The red color is inspired by the local lacquer ware, and each ribbon is uniquely bent, swept aside here and there to create entrances.
