Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Japanese Narrow Buildings Photo 21, Kurashiki

Fri, January 18, 2013, by Muza-chan
One of the best conserved historical centers in Japan is located in Kurashiki, a city close to Okayama. The houses from the Bikan Historical Quarter are typical Japanese kura (storehouses) and many of them were built during the Edo Period.

Here, even the architecture of the newer buildings preserves the same feeling, as you can see in today's photo: located on the outskirts of the historical quarter, this is one of the most beautiful narrow buildings I have seen in Japan.
