The roadside barriers shaped like cute animals are now a common sight in Japan, thair presence growing constantly since they were created about 13 years ago by a company from Sendai.

Carefully placed by the workers, it seems that they are doing their job better that the regular barriers. Maybe it is easier to notice the funny characters, such as these giraffes photographed in Aomori...
