I was writing some time ago about Miegakure, the "hide and reveal" Japanese garden aesthetic principle. A very beautiful application of this principle can be experienced in a "stroll garden", such as Okayama Koraku-en, photographed here. The paths were carefully planned by the designers so that the visitor discovers the garden step by step while strolling through the alleys...
