Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Japanese traditional architecture, Kirizuma

Wed, October 28, 2015, by Muza-chan
The Japanese traditional architecture uses several distinctive styles of roofs. One of the simplest types is called kirizuma, photographed here at an auxiliary shrine of the Shibata Jinja, Fukui: the roof is made of two sides connected at the top, with the front side extending beyond the wall and creating the eaves line lower than ceiling level.
