Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Japanese Traditional Food, Teishoku

Thu, March 7, 2013, by Muza-chan
If you want to sample the Japanese traditional cuisine, a good start could be a teishoku meal set. Besides the main dish, it includes a bowl of rice, a miso soup and other side dishes like tsukemono (Japanese pickles). As for the main dish, the most popular versions are prepared with tonkatsu, karaage, tempura or yakizakana (grilled fish).

The dishes are presented more or less like in my photo, with the rice bowl on the left, the miso soup on the right and the main dish in the middle of the tray - in this case, a delicious tonkatsu. (^_^)
