Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Train Station Decorations, JR Ueno

Tue, December 7, 2010, by Muza-chan
JR Ueno Station opened in 1883 and is one of the main train stations in Tokyo. Like many other buildings, the original Ueno Station burned down in 1923, during the Great Kantō Earthquake.
The current building was renovated in 2002, with a design combining ultra-modern features with traditional symbols, like this Japanese folding fan motif, displayed on a huge screen above the Central Ticket Gate.
