Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Kamakura Kencho-ji Buddha hall

Mon, May 28, 2018, by Muza-chan
Established in 1253, the Kencho-ji temple in Kamakura was, during its long history, destroyed by fire several times. Some of the buildings were reconstructed, but others were moved here (dismantled and reassembled) from other temples.

The Butsuden (Buddha hall), on the right side of today's photo, was brought from as far as Edo (today's Tokyo) being reassembled here in 1647.
