Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Kawagoe Festival Museum

Wed, October 24, 2018, by Muza-chan
The floats used for the Kawagoe floats parade are two level structures, built on a wooden wheeled base, decorated with sculptures and paper lanterns. The first level is a stage with a karahafu roof called hayashidai, where the musicians sit. The second level is a foldable structure (which was lowered to pass under the castle gates), featuring a large puppet representing a deity or a historical character, as you can see in this photo taken inside the Kawagoe Festival Museum.
