The Japanese prefectures, cities and many of the larger towns have officially designated flower, tree, and bird symbols.
In Kawagoe, the local manhole covers feature the official flower of city, kerria japonica, known as Yamabuki in Japanese and the official tree of city, the oak (Kashi in Japanese).
