Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Kitakyushu Monorail at Kokura Station

Sun, July 28, 2019, by Muza-chan
When the Kitakyushu Monorail was inaugurated, the Kokura monorail station wasn't connected with the train station, being located a few hundred meters away. The project was designed this way to appease the owners of the stores in the nearby Uomachi shopping district, who were afraid that they will loose their clients.

But with such a distance between stations, the monorail was loosing money, so in the end the line was extended and the station was integrated in the Kokura Station. And it seems that didn't cause any loss of profit for the shopping district.
