The garden was established during the Edo period by a Daimyo and it was rebuilt during the Meiji period by Iwasaki Yataro, the founder of Mitsubishi. It is a Kaiyu (meaning "many pleasures") style garden, with pond, islands, 55 huge rocks and an artificial hill.
In the foreground you can see the bridge connecting the Naka-no-shima island and in the background rises the artificial hill, symbolizing Mount Fuji:
