Koya-san Konpon Daito Pagoda
Among all the buildings erected on Mount Kōya, the one with the most powerful symbolism is this pagoda called Konpon Daito. Inside, in the middle, there's a statue of Dainichi Nyorai (Buddha Variocana), surrounded by statues and paintings of other deities, together composing a rare three-dimensional mandala. About this mandala, it is said that it protects the entire Koya mountain, and even more, the entire Japan.
