Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Koya-san Okunoin stone lanterns

Wed, September 27, 2017, by Muza-chan
Having more than a thousand years of history and located inside an even older forest, the 200,000 gravestones, monuments and memorials of the Koya-san Okunoin are the largest graveyard in Japan.

The 2 kilometers long paved pathway crossing it is lined by stone lanterns which are lit on the evening, creating a unique atmosphere in one of the most sacred places in Japan...

Okunoin, Koya-san, Wakayama
