Kumamoto Castle's passage of darkness

Together with the reconstruction of the Kumamoto Goten Palace, inside the Kumamoto Castle was restored the underground passage known as Kuragari-tsuro, the "Passage of Darkness", an unusual structure, currently unique in Japan.

Built of massive wooden beams and stone walls, the passage is dimly lit, to allow visitors to get a glimpse of the original experience...
