Kumamoto castle tenshu

During the Kumamoto Earthquake in April 2016, the main keep (tenshu in Japanese) of the Kumamoto castle was badly damaged. The castle will remained covered in scaffolding until the next year, and it is estimated that it wil be reopened for visitors in 2021.

Several other important structures, such as valuable yagura turrets and defensive walls, which were also severely damaged will be restored in about 20 years...
