Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Kyoto Gion Hanamachi old houses

Mon, October 19, 2015, by Muza-chan
Among the 5 geisha districts still active in Kyoto (called in Japanese hanamachi, or in Kyoto dialect, kagai), the most attractive in terms of architecture are Gion Kōbu and Gion Higashi, the two hanamachi of Gion.

By night, when the lanterns ar lit on the Hanamikoji street, the traditional buildings are still conveying a feeling of old-time charm.
