Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Kyoto must see, the beautiful traditional narrow street Ishibei-koji

Mon, February 24, 2014, by Muza-chan
Before the modernization that took place after the Meiji Restoration, the Japanese towns were places filled with narrow alleys, but today only few places have preserved the aspect of the old streets.

One of the best-preserved streets is the Ishibei-koji in Higashiyama, Kyoto, because filled with traditional restaurants and ryokan inns, it maintains not only the aspect but also the feeling of the old times... With a bit of imagination, Ishibei-koji takes you back 100 years... It feels like a trip in time, a charming place and a must see for any visitor to Kyoto...
