Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Matsuyama Isaniwa Shrine

Mon, July 11, 2016, by Muza-chan
If you visit Matsuyama and its famous Dōgo onsen, you can also take a look at the Isaniwa Shrine, one of the most important shrines in Matsuyama, established more that 1000 years ago.

The buildings we see today were built about 350 years ago by Sadanaga Matsudaira, the third lord of Matsuyama, who wanted to give thanks to the kami for being selected to perform yabusame mounted archery at the Edo Castle.
