Meiji era merchant house

One of the historical merchant houses opened for visitors in Obi, Miyazaki Prefecture, belonged to Takahashi Genjiro, a businessman and politician who was, during the Meiji era, a member of the upper house of the Imperial Diet.

His home, built during the middle of the Meiji period, is registered as a tangible cultural properties, and features many beautiful, traditionally decorated screen doors.
