Mitsubishi Navy Type 0 Carrier Fighter - Rei Shiki Kanjo Sentoki 「零式艦上戦闘機」, also known as Mitsubishi A6M Zero, is one of the most famous fighter aircraft of the World War II. In July 1940, when it was introduced, it was the best carrier-based fighter in the world, but at the end of the war it was completely obsolete...
The Type 0 designation comes from the Imperial year 2600 (1940) and in Japan was unofficially named Rei-sen or Zero-sen.
Overall, almost 11000 pieces were built, but today it is quit rare to see one, because just a few survived the war and are on display.
One of them, fully restored, is located at the Yushukan museum at the Yasukuni Shrine:
