A gardening technique used especially in the stroll gardens built by the feudal lords of the Edo period is "shrunken scenery" (shukukei). This technique enhaces the garden with miniature imitations of famous scenic spots, like this Mount Fuji at the Suizenji garden in Kumamoto.
