Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Nagasaki Sofuku-ji Sanmon gate

Thu, August 22, 2019, by Muza-chan
An old legend says that Ryūjin, the dragon kami of the sea, lives inside an underwater palace made of red coral. An entire architectural style, called Ryugu-zukuri, was developed inspired by this myth. An example of this style is the construction in today's photo, the Sanmon gate of the Sofuku-ji Temple in Nagasaki.
