Four hundred years ago, the daimyo of Fukuoka, Kuroda Nagamasa, son of the famous Kuroda Kanbei, established Nakasu, the "island in the middle" of rivers, as an entertainment district. And its destination was preserved even today...

Nakasu is today the largest nightlife entertainment district in Western Japan, featuring more than 200 restaurants, bars, and clubs. By daytime, the area looks quite plain, but after the night falls, the traditional chochin lanterns and the bright billboards are lit and the streets are filled with passersby. It is a place worth seeing...
