Nakamise-dori Night Scene

Nakamise-dori is one of the oldest commercial venues in Japan, established between 1688 - 1735, with the permission of the Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. During the Edo Period, the area from this picture, called at the time "Yakudana" (between the Demboin Temple and Hozomon Gate) was filled with 20 tea houses. Now, there are tens of shops with souvenirs, toys, Japanese traditional sweets and crackers.

From the many pictures I took on Nakamise-dori I especially remember this one, with the shops decorated for New Year. Why? Because at one point the temperature dropped so fast that my hands froze on the camera... Don't be tricked by the girl with the white coat, it was really cold, with the wind blowing through my bones...
