Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Niigata artistic manhole cover

Mon, July 30, 2018, by Muza-chan
As I previously wrote, the motifs used for the artistic Japanese manhole covers were selected to represent something specific to the local area, such as famous bridges, buildings, food, gardens, traditional objects and crafts, festivals, plants, birds, animals, etc.

Some of them are instantly recognized but others are a bit more complex. This manhole cover from Niigata features an abstract design inspired by the Bandai bridge, the most famous bridge of the city.
