Okayama Koraku-en

Built 300 years ago, the Koraku-en garden was originally designed as recreational place for the feudal lord Ikeda Tsunamasa, the daimyo of the Okayama castle.

After it was destroyed by floods in 1934 and by the bombings at the end of the WWII, Koraku-en was reconstructed by using old paintings and documents.

Today, the garden preserves its original design and it is designated as Special Place of Scenic Beauty.
